This position is:

  • Part-time & Professional – Tutoring is one-on-one, cognitive-based, using research-based programs. It requires dedication and enthusiasm for individualizing each student’s tutoring sessions. Because of the time and energy commitment needed for the Learning Specialist position, preference is given to applicants who do not have full-time employment elsewhere.
  • Long-term – Extensive in-house training is provided along with ongoing mentoring. Due to the amount of time and resources invested in the training process, we are seeking candidates who are at a place in life to commit to a minimum of 3 years employment.
  • Year-round – Our kids need continuous support in their learning journey, and summer is a great time to make up lost ground. School-year hours are usually limited to evenings, but hours may be increased during the summer months.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working at our learning center during after-school hours with children ages 5-18 twice
    weekly (M/W or T/TH with optional Sat.)
  • Committing to a regular schedule of 10 – 20 hours per week (tutoring + lesson planning)
  • Analyzing each child’s needs based on parent input and Specialty Tutoring’s initial
    evaluation
  • Individualized lesson-planning for each tutoring session
  • Record-keeping
  • Parent communication
  • Participation in ongoing professional development

Working Hours and Locations:
Most students are scheduled Monday through Thursday between 3:00 and 8:00 p.m., and/or Saturdays. Create a schedule that works for you (minimum of 8 tutoring hours per week; maximum 24 hours per week). Tutoring takes place at our learning center on Dawsons Creek Blvd or at one of our offsite locations depending on demand.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • We do not hire for short-term, summer only, or substitute work.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a criminal history background check.
  • All instructional positions at Specialty Tutoring require experience with school-aged
    children; 4-year college degree preferred.
  • We do not offer any full-time or salaried positions, health or life insurance benefits.
